General Information: What is a Physician Assistant (PA)?

Physicians are always looking for better ways to effectively see patients and expand their patient populations.  Patients want to have short waiting times to see their physicians and also want to be able to address all of their concerns at each appointment. As many clinicians are expanding and seeing more patients, they naturally look for ways to hire more help. That’s where physician assistants come in handy.

PAs are “certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) – a mark of professional accomplishment – and state-licensed. They are health professionals who practice medicine as members of a team with their supervising physicians. PAs deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services to diverse populations in rural and urban settings. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and prescribe medications.” – American Academy of Physician Assistants

By having a PA, Dr. Jolly can see more patients, perform more procedures, and effectively treat the pain experienced by individuals.  Before, patients only had certain times of each day they could schedule procedures or office visits; now they will have the freedom to see either Dr. Jolly or the PA at their convenience.

So call today to schedule your office visit with the PA; we look forward to seeing you!
